Br. Simone and Br. Jason from Center Department will be visiting from Thursday, February 23rd, to Sunday, February 26th. Numerous activities are scheduled and we cordially invite everyone to attend any and all events as you are able. There will be a Thursday evening guided meditation with kirtan, from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm, and an outing on Friday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Sign up details will be posted in the social room.
On Saturday, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm there will be a Center Department workshop titled, “Serving Together in Happiness and Harmony”. This workshop will be an interactive, discussion with the monks, and will include a PowerPoint presentation with quotes from our Guru, and Sri Daya Mata, various pictures, and numerous stories and anecdotes. Subjects covered will include: appreciation – seeing the good in others, the art of listening, how to successfully discuss our differences, making decisions together as a group, the attitudes of non-attachment and humility, and not taking life too seriously – having a sense of humor. The monks are encouraging as many devotees as possible to attend this event and see the workshop as a way to enrich the harmony and understanding of the entire congregation. The more people in attendance, the greater the overall positive impact on the Seattle Center.
On Sunday we will have a meditation from 10:00 am to 10:45 am, followed by a lecture at 11:00 am by Br. Simone. Then will follow our monthly potluck at 12:00 pm and a General Membership Meeting at 1:00 pm. At the General Meeting, Br. Simone and Br. Jason will update the membership on where the proposed renovations for our Center now stand, and what the next steps will be. They will also take time to answer any questions from the membership on this subject. We invite and encourage as many members as possible to attend this important meeting.
Center Department has asked devotees to submit group related questions, either to Managing Council or directly to Center Department via e-mail (e-mail address: CenterDepartment@Yogananda-srf.org). In the e-mail’s subject line put “Seattle Center Questions – att. Br. Jason.” Please submit questions specific to group life such as building harmony, chanting, service reading, discussing our differences, hosting newcomers, not disturbing others in meditation, or anything at all to do with group life. The monks will try to respond to as many of our questions as they can, throughout the various planned events.
